Walgreens

Walgreens and CVS are both having pretty sorry weeks. There are two things worth noting at Walgreens this week; razors and Tylenol Precise.

Walgreen's shoppers program is called Register Rewards,  you purchase a listed sale item and the catalina machine will print a coupon for the amount stated in the sale. The coupon can then be used for anything in Walgreens (with a few exceptions). The program at Walgreens can sound complicated but once you have done it a few times it becomes common sense.

For May and part of June Walgreens has Gilette Fusion Razors on sale for $9.89. That is the handle and one or two blades depending on which package you purchase. The coupons in the 5/1 newspaper had a coupon for $4 off the Gilette Razor and Walgreens is giving a $5 Register Reward(RR). Walgreens RR's don't always roll, meaning the RR won't work to purchase another Razor and get another $5 RR BUT for this razor it is rolling! That's a big bonus in the world of Walgreening!

Example-
Buy Gilette Razor $9.89
Use $4 coupon
Pay $5 and get $ RR

Then-
Buy Gilette Razor $9.89
Add a small filler (pencils are usually $.25 or some other small items)
Use $4 coupon
Use $5 RR from previous transaction
Pay $1ish depending on filler item and tax rate and get $5 RR

Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.......

The coupons can be purchased on Ebay. The price for them has gone unusually high because of the Walgreens sale but they still come out to be a good deal. The filler items in the second transaction is because Walgreen's registers require you purchase an item for each manufacturer coupon and the RR is considered a coupon so you have to add a small item. This week I am adding the Kleenex that's on sale, we use crazy amounts of Kleenex here and when I add a filler I always try to make it something we will really use and not just a wasteful filler. If you have a sweet tooth, this week is also $.49 bags of Walgreens candy which make a cheap filler too! The coupons in Walgreens ad for the week don't count towards the required items vs. coupons total, they are store coupons, not manufacturer.

The second deal at Walgreens is a bit easier to understand than the razor deal! Tylenol Precise has a Walgreens $3 off coupon that you can locate in the May coupon book. The Monthly coupon books are in the same wire rack as the sale flyers each week.   Last weeks coupon inserts contained a coupon for $5 off Tylenol Precise (the coupon was regional so not everyone got it). Use both coupons and you get Tylenol Precise for free. Tylenol Precise has muscle rubs or heating pads. You only need one Walgreens coupon even if you are purchasing several Tylenol. Coupons are fairly reasonable on Ebay right now. I have also heard(although not confirmed) that Tylenol Precise is $4.75 at Walmart, making it free with the  coupon too! If the Commissary sells this I am guessing it will be free there as well plus tax free! The coupon is only good for one week though so act fast! If you purchase on Ebay, you can locate coupons close to your home by changing distance on the left side of the screen. I set mine to within 200 miles of my home and received my coupons in one day! I will be able to get 20 Tylenol for around $4 plus tax. My grandmother loves the heating pads so this is a great deal. Going by the Walmart price ($4.75) it's a $91 savings!

Happy Couponing!
