Meijer

Last week was my best week at Meijer and I never got a chance to blog about it! Donny was home when I got back from my big trip and he carried all my bags to the basement before I got a chance to take a picture of my good finds. I had almost $100 in coupons! I got $160 worth of groceries for $67. If only I could repeat that every week!

We don't need much in the grocery department this week. Donny is going camping this week and the kids and I are headed to Myrtle Beach on Sunday so I will just be stocking up on a few sale items and enough fruit and veggies to get us through the week. We mostly buy our meat at a Market in Addison, a trip we will need to make as soon as we get back from vacation!

Today's Drugstore Deals

G wanted to model for today's picture :-)

I was solo shopping today which really just isn't as fun as shopping with my sister so I did a couple stores and called it a day. I attempted to pick up G from my moms and head to Meijer but the tornado sirens were going off in Ypsi so I decided to head home in case we needed to take cover!

Walgreens has 4 free after RR items this week and CVS has two free after ECB deals so it wasn't a fantastic week but decent. We are going to Myrtle Beach next week and won't be shopping, heading to the drugstores to "roll" my coupons was essential today!

Walgreens
At Walgreens I did three transactions between 2 stores with a total out of pocket of $7.28. I bought-

2 90ct. bottles of Applied Nutrition Calcium ($10 get $10 RR)
6 boxes of Ecotin 81mg aspirin (.99 with in ad coupon and I had $1.50 coupons so I made $.50/box)
2 Illy Cappacino ($2, get $2 RR)
2 Goody headache powders ($1.50, get $1.50 RR)
2 boxes of Wheat Thins ($2, get $2 RR)
6 pack of Scott Naturals Paper Towels (on sale for $3.99, have $1 off coupon)
4 Degree Deodorant (buy 4/$15 get $5 RR, had buy one get one free coupons)
2 Right Guard Deodorant (on sale for BOGO free and I have BOGO Free manu. coupons, both free)
1 Pretzels and cheese sticks (Gavin was with me for the third transaction so this was his $1 addition)
2 bags popcorn ($.25, Used as fillers)

Have you seen those giant daily pill containers that you probably think are a funny gag gift? My mother's daily vitamins and pills don't fit in one of those.........seriously. That makes vitamin and aspirin deals  a big bonus around here, I supplied her in calcium and aspirin for a few months today. I am fairly sure my grandmother also takes calcium and I am hoping to hit one more walgreens tomorrow to stock her up too. The calcium is free after RR and I have plenty of RR to roll into the pills so that I just have to pay tax on them. The Wheat thins aren't listed in the ad as free but Walgreen's didn't receive enough stock on the Ritz Crackerfuls and substituted Wheat Thins, Ritz or Triscuits. If there is not sign at your store stating the substitution try having a cashier scan Wheat Thins, Ritz or Triscuits, if they ring up $2 they are on sale and should print the $2 RR without problem.

CVS-I did 3 transactions today and my total OOP was $1.74
My out of pocket is usually slightly higher at CVS since Extra Bucks don't pay the tax for the items purchased but today the ECB's were subtracting the tax. I won't question the CVS gods and say a little pray that it continues this way because spending less than $2 for everything I got today works out to be less than $.05 an item.

8 Loofahs (clearance for $.74 and we use them so I bought all they had)
Package of Baby wipes (needed for our vacation next week)
2 Revlon Nail Polish (Part of buy $10 get $3 Revlon deal, used $2 off Revlon color cosmetics coupon)
4 bags candy (part of candy deal buy $10 get $3, used 2 $2/2 coupons)
13 Candy Bars (sale 2/$1, buy 2 get $1 ecb. Limit is 1 per card but I bought extra)
2 Boxes of Preparation H wipes ($4 get $4 ecb, used $2 off printable coupon making it a $2 $ maker)
4 boxes kleenex (on sale 3/$4)
2 herbal essence (buy 3 for $5.98 get $2 ecb, used $1 off coupon on each bottle)
2 Crest toothpaste ($1.99 each, get $1ecb, limit 2)(I wouldn't usually buy toothpaste that's a $1 loss but Crest with peroxide and baking soda was included in this deal and it's Donny's preferred toothpaste so I sucked it up and took the $2 loss on two tubes!)

I also used 2 $5/$25 coupons that can be found in the printable coupon thread in the drugstore forum on slickdeals.net. The coupon will beep that it isn't for your card but 9 times out of 10 the cashier will enter it manually without question. Even if it's emailed to you, it will most likely beep not for card. CVS hasn't perfected the coupon issuing just yet!  Today the coupon I used actually printed with Donny's full name and it beeped not for card.

On a funny note, I saw the loofahs were on a clearance shelf but when I scanned them they rang up full price so I had put them back on the shelf. While I checked out I asked the cashier if they were supposed to be 75% off or if they had just been placed on the wrong shelf. She asked another cashier that knows me from my usual shopping at CVS. The second cashier went back to check and came up carrying the whole container of the loofahs. She said, "They are $.74, do you want them all?" I laughed and said of course I did and commented on how well she knew me :-)
